Whether you’re surrounded by plants, gazing out a window, or visiting a plant nursery or arboretum, there are countless ways to stay connected to the natural world wherever you are.
We can’t always go outside.
There are times when stepping outdoors simply isn’t possible or when we may not feel drawn to go outside. The good news? Research shows that you can still experience many of the same mental and emotional benefits of nature through intentional indoor nature-based activities.
Even something as simple as sitting near a sunny window, tending to potted plants, or surrounding yourself with natural elements can help boost your mood and sense of well-being.
If you’re able to go out but don’t have access to green or blue spaces for forest bathing or nature immersion, you can still create a meaningful practice.
Explore your local plant nursery, arboretum, botanical garden, or even the garden section at a home improvement store—any place filled with living plants can provide a rich, restorative experience.
